KOHÁN METHOD - Clarinet Private Lessons

Mastery begins with understanding

This is not a place simply to play a little better than last time.
It is a place to look months, years — and further — ahead,
and map the path of your growth, together.

So please — let your shoulders drop.

I --- The power of understanding

Mastery begins with
understanding.

What I teach is not taste or feeling, but fact.
What is happening inside your body. How the air actually moves.

— “Do this, and this happens” —
I make that cause and effect clear to you, in words.

Showing up to a lesson is not enough to improve.
That is the lie of the music education industry.
Learning itself is a skill you have to acquire.

II --- VISION, NOT CORRECTION

Vision

Not correction.
Vision.

Most lessons spend their time fixing mistakes. I do the opposite. I place a clear vision inside you — what a good sound is, how the piece should truly sound, and how far you yourself want to go.

Without that image, no one grows — just as a vine has nothing to climb without a trellis.

III --- THE ONE HOUR THAT DECIDES THE REST

1

0-70

My 1 hour with YOU decides your next 1070 hours of practice.
Not only what you practice — but how. That matters most.
Walk the wrong path and you end up the wrong place.
I help you how to arrive to your wished destination.

IV --- EMOTION INTO SOUND

Technique alone
does not move people.

Since the age of ten, I have thought of nothing but standing on stage as a soloist. How does something stay in a listener's heart? I have faced that question for decades.

I find the feelings already inside your everyday life, and connect them to the sound and technique of the clarinet. I turn what you already understand into sound. That is my lesson.

V --- MIND & BODY

Your inner state
always shows in
your sound.

Anxiety and tension make the breath shallow, and that mental block becomes, directly, a limit on your sound. So I tune not only the sound — but you.

I grew up in Hungary, where music education is almost free. Being paid for knowledge was, at first, a genuine shock.

And so I always feel I must give back more than I receive. That feeling is the root of how I teach.

VI --- THE METHOD

Everything in clarinet playing,
made systematic.

Sound - Breath - Embouchure - Tonguing - Technique - How to practice

“How can I make this truly understood?”
I have asked that question thousands of times. That is why, today, I can guide you more deeply and more clearly.

I make you understand a visualise the
OUTPUT
and we reverse engineer your workflow up to that.

VII --- for whom

For those who reach
from
high to higher

I work with people currently, who are:

- professional orchestra players

- music university students

- young professionals who wish to become soloist

For those who love it
deeply

It's fine if you can't touch the instrument every day. Why is it worth picking it up a little more often? We explore that meaning, together.

One day, to no longer need a teacher.

My goal is not to make you depend on me. I don't give you a fish — I teach you how to fish. That is what education means to me.
